Shall I stay?
Would it be a sin

Some things are meant to be

Just walking in the rain

~ by John Alvin Ray a.k.a. Johnny Ray

~ from November 16th 1956 it was the number one hit for seven weeks..

walking in the rain Just walking in the rain
Getting soaking wet
Torturing my heart by trying to forget

Just walking in the rain
So alone and blue
All because my heart still remembers you

 walking in the rain 2

People come to their windows,
They always stare at me
Shaking their heads in sorrow
Saying, who can that fool be

   Thinking how we met
   Knowing things have changed
   Somehow I can't forget.

Uadjit – the mythical cobra goddess

WHAT IS YOUR EGYPTIAN NAME?  …it was a survey in Face book..  a questionnaire that I did a few months ago. The result was.. my name in Egyptian is said to be UADJIT which means “mythical cobra goddess”.

‘A cobra goddess?. Interesting!’ but brushed it off. However, I couldn’t get it out of my mind. It keeps nagging at me, so I did further research, just for the knowledge. As much as it was mythical, it’s mystical to me…  I for one..    am most afraid of snakes, what more a serpent, a cobra…  nooooo!!! whoa..   on the surface, it doesn’t sound too good but a deeper meaning to it I seek….

Just want to share my findings: wadjet (the image and the write ups)

Origin: Egyptian

Sex: Female       Unisex Name? No

Meaning: Mythical cobra goddess.

The Myth: Uadjit (Uajyt, Buto or Wadjet) was the guardian goddess of Lower Egypt (the northern area of Egypt that ended at the Nile Delta and northernmost coast). It’s main shrine or 'the dwelling place’ was at Buto. As sovereign of the Delta lands, she helped Isis hide with the child Horus in the swamps. Uadjit was called the mother of the sun and the moon. She was linked with the eye of Ra, the sun God. She was also called the Lady of  the Heavens.

The Cobra Snake: The ability to shed skin and emerge reborn, associates them as the symbol of regeneration and immortality. It was also associated with the idea of giving birth and mothers. The serpent image, therefore, was considered as magically endowing both living and deceased with powers of rebirth and fertility. On the other hand, snakes can poison humans and animals and so can be life takers. It’s poisonous forked tongue that can spit venom at anybody is often equated with the lying or spiteful words of a human. Snakes do not have eyelids therefore is able to make it’s prey feel uncomfortable when stared fixedly before striking. This action emanates power.

The Image: She was a cobra goddess, winged and crowned, rising to strike. Often associated with the uraeus serpent, she was guardian of royalty and an image of her was worn about the forehead, either alone or combined with one or both crowns of Egypt. Snake goddesses hold the dual role of a protector and a destroyer. This role describes Uadjit, who was both protector and destroyer of the pharaoh. She would spit poison at anybody who would do the pharaoh harm and minister the death sting when his appointed time on earth was over.

The Hidden Meaning

Soul Urge: People with the name Uadjit have a deep inner desire for order and physical creativity, and want to be involved in conventional, safe activities.

Expression: People with the name Uadjit tend to be quiet, cooperative, considerate, sympathetic to others, adaptable, balanced and sometimes shy. They are trustworthy, respecting the confidences of others, and make excellent diplomats, mediators and partners. They are often very intuitive. They like detail and order, and often find change worrisome. They may sometimes feel insecure or restless

Moral:  Never judge or assume things from the surface.. the hidden meaning may give you something else..  (YES exactly! Never judge a book by it’s cover)

This findings actually surprised me because all I did was to key in my real name… and it spelled out my characteristics. Awesome!
